Frequently asked questions
Should I get the Red or Green version?
Choose Red (X03 Red) if:
✓ You zero indoors or in low-light environments
✓ You want longer battery life (red lasers use less power)
✓ You shoot at 25 yards or under for most sessions
✓ You're a first-time bore sight user
Choose Green if:
✓ You need outdoor daylight visibility (50+ yards)
✓ Maximum visibility is critical
✓ You shoot competitively or hunt
Quick decision guide:
- Indoor shooter? → Red
- Hunter / outdoor zeroing? → Green
Why is the Red version cheaper than the Green?
Pricing reflects laser technology costs, not quality:
✓ Green lasers require more complex frequency-doubling technology, making them more expensive to produce
✓ Red lasers use simpler, proven diode technology — same precision, lower cost
✓ Both versions use the same precision-machined adapters, stainless steel construction, and quality control
Is the red laser visible in daylight?
The Red X03 is optimized for indoor and low-light conditions.
Visibility ranges:
✓ Indoor: Up to 100 yards (clearly visible)
✓ Low-light outdoor (dawn/dusk): 25 yards
✗ Direct bright sunlight: Reduced visibility (15 yards or less)
If you frequently zero outdoors in bright daylight, consider the Green X03 instead. The green wavelength is naturally 4× more visible to the human eye in daylight.
For 80% of users zeroing indoors at home, the Red is more than sufficient.
What calibers does this bore sight work with?
It works with most common and popular calibers from.22 to.50.
It is not recommended for subcompact or short-barrel handguns, or rifles with long muzzle devices.
Will the adapters scratch or damage my barrel?
No. The adapters are made from precision-machined brass and aluminum both softer than steel barrels, so they cannot scratch rifling.
How long do the batteries last?
The Red X03 has excellent battery life due to lower power consumption:
✓ Continuous use: ~2 hours
✓ Typical zeroing sessions (3-5 minutes each): 30-40 sessions
✓ Standby/off: Years (always turn off after use)
Compared to green lasers, the red version uses about 40% less power making it more economical for frequent users.
Is the laser eye-safe?
Yes, when used properly. The Red X03 uses a Class 3R laser (5mW±0.2mW) the same classification as common consumer laser
pointers.
Safety guidelines:
⚠️ ALWAYS verify the firearm is unloaded before installing the bore sight
⚠️ Never look directly into the laser beam
⚠️ Don't point the laser at people, animals, or aircraft
⚠️ Class 3R is safe for momentary exposure — avoid prolonged direct viewing
Compliant with FDA 21 CFR 1040.10 laser product safety standards.
How do I use the X03 Red? Step-by-step
1. Verify firearm is COMPLETELY UNLOADED. Check chamber and magazine
2. Select the correct adapter for your caliber from the included set
3. Attach the adapter to the front of the boresighter
4. Insert the boresighter into the muzzle of the barrel
5. Press the power button — red laser activates
6. Aim at a target 15-25 yards away
7. Look through your scope/iron sights and adjust until your reticle matches the laser dot
8. Power off and remove the boresighter
9. Live fire to confirm zero (3-5 rounds at 25 yards)
Total time: 5-10 minutes for complete sight alignment.
Will the laser dot wobble or make circles when rotated?
This is a high-precision bore sight. Under normal conditions, the laser will stay centered when rotated 360 degrees.
